You Are God’s Seed on Earth

Time is the one gift we all receive equally, yet how we use it determines whether we simply exist or live with purpose. God has invested a seed in each of us; much more, we are a seed planted on earth for a harvest. Hence, God has expectations of us.

Galatians 6:7 says ‘‘Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that  will he also reap.’’ In the same vein, 2 Corinthians 9:10 reads ‘‘He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and  multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your  righteousness.’’

Using the parable of the sower in Matthew 13:1-23, the field is the world, the good seed is the sons of the kingdom, and the weeds are the sons of the evil one. Undoubtedly, we live in a perverse generation where darkness seems to thrive in the hearts of men—there are weeds everywhere!

The typical effects of weeds on seeds are: it steals water, competes with the nutrients, and sunlight, it releases chemicals into the soil that inhibits the growth of the seed thereby affecting its connection to the source.

Therefore, it is important as sons of God to be cautious, discerning, and continually walk in the path of righteousness.

To ensure the manifestation of your expected harvest, you must do the following:

  • Get Knowledge: The first step is to identify what is required to have a good harvest. How do you do so? Knowledge. Hosea.4:6 reads ‘‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have  rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests.’’ The people of Israel had exchanged the glory of God, which was upon them, for something worthless. In a world where we are lured to material things, ideologies, and doctrines, we must spend more time with the Lord for the manual tailored to our harvest. In addition to gaining the right knowledge, we must have understanding and the wisdom to apply what we have learnt.
  • Guide Against Distractions: You must guard against the devil’s whims and tactics. He aims to distract men from their purpose and hinder their harvest. He is the enemy in Matthew 13:24-30 who came to sow weeds among the wheat. The common ways he gains access to a man’s life are via long-established covenants, disobedience, and ignorance. Don’t be ignorant of the enemy
  • Engage the Power of God: To engage the power of God, you have to communicate with God by praying and fasting. There comes a time in our lives when we are weak and fall, as highlighted in Isaiah 40:30; however, as we wait upon the Lord, our strength is renewed, and we shall mount up with wings.

Conclusively, as children of God, we must recognise that time is not just passing—it is purposeful. Every moment is a seed, every decision a planting, and every season an opportunity for harvest. God has built spiritual laws into the fabric of our lives: what we sow, we will reap (Galatians 6:7). So let us be intentional with our time, faithful in our sowing, and patient in our waiting. Walk in the assurance that no seed sown in obedience will ever go unrewarded.
