How To Be Used By God

One of the scriptures I find most interesting is 2 Corinthians 16:9 (NIV), it reads,

“For the eyes of the LORD range  throughout the earth to strengthen  those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” What is the Lord doing searching when He is everywhere?

The hungry Christian cries for the Lord to use him for mighty works but they wonder why brother A seems to be prospering ministerially than they are. Are you in the same shoes? In this article, I will explain why it may appear so and what you should do for introspection.

1. Keep your life clean

God uses small vessels, plain vessels, and even broken vessels. But he will not use a dirty  vessel. In Matthew 23:26, Jesus says, “Blind  Pharisee! First clean the inside of  the cup and dish, and then the  outside also will be clean.” (NIV)

2. Keep your eyes open

One of the most misunderstood words in leadership circles is the word “vision.” Leadership is defined as some who have followers. Vision is seeing God at work in  your present situation and moving with Him. If your vision isn’t in alignment with what God is doing, you are off-course.

Vision requires direction. Direction requires decision making, consideration of options which includes dealing with uncertainty. If we truly want to be used by God in our assignments, then we must learn to become comfortable with uncertainty and  adjust continually.

As David said, “Keep your eyes  open for God, watch for his  works; be alert for signs of his  presence.” Psalm 105:4 (MSG)

3. Keep His purpose firm

You were planned for God’s pleasure, formed for God’s family, created to become like Christ, shaped for service, and made for a mission. Acts 13:36 records that David served God’s purpose in his generation.

4. Keep your mind on Jesus

Heb.12:2  reads, “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

God’s purpose for your life is far greater than your problems.  Don’t give up when it gets tough. Go to Jesus. Keep your mind on  Him!

5. Be Humble

Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before stumbling. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in Humility, count others more significant than yourself.

6. Build a sincere Relationship with the Master

You can do this through His word, through prayer, through your substance in giving, through your honor, through loyalty, and with His people. This can be done by stepping ahead of people yet staying close enough for them to see you, stepping beside them, listening to them, and stepping behind them sharing words of encouragement to keep them going.

In conclusion, being used by God is such a huge privilege and we must do what is required to represent Him duly wherever we find ourselves.
